Justin Lim and Tan Yan Ling win youth category at National Bowling Championships

Orchid Country Club, Friday, November 27, 2009 – National youth bowlers Justin Lim Chia Loong, 16, and Tan Yan Ling, 16, emerged champions for the first time in the Youth Division Boys & Girls Masters category of the 40th Singapore National Bowling Championships.

Justin achieved 1675 pinfalls with an average of 209.4 while Yan Ling had 1671 pinfalls with an average of 208.9.

Following in the second and third positions of the Youth Division Boys were Justin Lim Chun Liang, 17, and Aloysius Goh Jun Jie, 21, a year one student with Nanyang Business School (NTU) with 1656 and 1651 pinfalls respectively.

Justin was the team silver medalist in the 1st Asian Youth Games Singapore 2009.

National youth bowler Teo Li Ying, 21, took the second position with 1647 pinfalls while Stacy Lian, 15, was third with 1550 pinfalls.

Stacy came in fifth in the Secondary Schools Division Girls Master just the day before.

During the final moments of the Youth Division Finals, Raffles Institution student Paul Yap, 17, struck a perfect 8th game that elevated him from the 24th position in the 6th game to 15th position at the end of the 8-game series. Up to that point, Paul did not have any game above the aggregate score of 200.

“This is my fourth time participating in the Singapore National Bowling Championships, and first to strike a perfect game, making it to my best high game to date,” said Paul Yap. Paul started bowling from the age of 12 when he was studying in Parry Primary School.
