Wisma Atria, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 – All 500 extra slots for the Nike+ Human Race 10K were snapped up when Nike released them to the public exclusively at the Nike flagship store at Wisma Atria. Each person registered for themselves on the spot and registration was limited to a first-come-first-served basis.

A queue of more than 500 people had already formed by 11am, with the first person queuing as early as 11.30pm the night before.

22-year-old students from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Joan Hsu and Cai Lixian, were among the first 70 lucky registrants. They started queuing at 9am to register for the race.

Joan said: “This is our first time joining the Nike Human Race and we wanted to be part of the race as we’ve heard many good things about it from our friends who took part last year. We’re really looking forward to it this year and I think it’s cool that we get to run with people all around the world on the same day during the race!”

The Nike+ Human Race 10K started last year when Nike decided to launch a global initiative to provide running enthusiasts with an unparalleled running experience by combining their love for music and a scenic 10km route in 26 major cities around the world. The post-race concert this year will consist of top bands from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines to provide great entertainment for runners who have just completed their 10km run on a Saturday morning.

Singapore is once again the only Southeast Asian city selected to host the event, amongst 30 major cities worldwide. For more information on the Nike+ Human Race 10K, please log on to www.nikeplus.com.sg.
