September 17, 2009 – The RHB Singapore Cup semi-finals kick off with the clash between surprise packages Albirex Niigata and Geylang United on 5th October at the Jurong East stadium.

Unfancied sides at the beginning of the tournament, both teams have since made doubters sit up and take notice as they claimed the scalps of top teams such as Gombak United, Tampines Rovers, Singapore Armed Forces FC and Home United between them en-route to their journey to the semi-finals.

The other semi-final match will feature Thai outfit TTM Samut Sakhon as they take on compatriots and Thai League champions Bangkok Glass, who are now coached by former Home United assistant coach Surachai Jaturapattarapong.

As the last local club remaining in the tournament, Geylang United will have the pressure of flying the Singapore flag as they challenge for Singapore Cup honours. Catch the second-leg encounter between Geylang United and Albirex Niigata at Bedok Stadium on 9th October as it will be shown ´LIVE' on MediaCorp Channel 5.
