Singapore, August 7, 2009 – Khairul Amri has been withdrawn from the Singapore squad that will take on China on 12 August in a football friendly after he came down with a high fever.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that 2008 YEO'S Young Player of the Year Khairul Amri had been called up for the first time since he picked up an injury last November.
Home United's Itimi Dickson has been called up to replace the Tampines Rovers striker who also missed the Stags' 3-2 defeat to Home United last night in the vital Great Eastern - YEO'S S.League match due to the fever.
Dickson last played for the Lions in the 1-1 draw with Thailand in the 2nd leg of Asean Football Championship Final in 2007. Incidentally, Khairul Amri replaced him early in the second half and scored the equaliser nine minutes from time to help the Lions to win their third AFF Championships.
Another player missing from the squad is Home United's Lionel Lewis who dislocated his shoulder against Super Reds on 29 June. The uncapped Jasper Chan from Young Lions replaces him in the squad.
