Sunday, August 2, 2009 – 42-year-old Calvin Lee Wee Sing died after he was pulled from the swim leg at the Singapore Triathlon.

Mr Lee, who was the CEO of Deutsche Telekom Asia, was competing in the Olympic Distance Mix/Open relay category with his colleagues, when he was found disoriented at sea while completing his 1.5km swim.

He was pulled from the sea by a marshal on a jet ski and rushed to shore where CPR was administered. He was by then unconscious and foaming at the mouth.

Two doctors took over the CPR and applied the automated external defibrillator (AED) on him.

He was then rushed to Changi General Hospital where he was declared dead in the afternoon.

N.B. The event is also known as the Osim Singapore International Triathlon.

March 2006 – Colonel Bernard Tan, 39

The SAF regular had completed the 1.5km swim and was about to finish his 10km run when he collapsed and died 600m from the finish line.

2007 – national triathlete Thaddeus Cheong, 17

Collapsed and died after finishing his SEA Games time trial.
