Mt Everest, Friday, May 22, 2009 – Joanne Soo, 39, and Lee Peh Gee, 32, made it to the top of Mt Everest to complete their team’s quest of putting a Singaporean woman on the top of the world’s highest mountain.

Lee Li Hui, Esther Tan and Jane Lee had reached the summit two days earlier as part of their overall plan of having two teams scale the summit separately.

Li Hui reached the summit at 5.31am while Peh Gee followed at 5.56am. Teammate Sim Yihui suffered the heartbreak of having to turn back earlier because of chest pains.

Jane Lee and Lee Lihui have arrived back at Everest Base Camp on the afternoon of May 21 while Esther Tan is scheduled to be back a day after.
