The Singapore Challenge Series comes as a pre-cursor to an ASEAN Professional Basketball League after pulling out of the Australia's National Basketball League.

As Bob Turner, Managing Director of the Singapore Slingers, said, "The idea of the Singapore Challenge Series is a pre-cursor to a very exciting concept of forming an ASEAN Professional Basketball League. The Leagues formation is being championed by our Chairman Tony Fernandes and it is hopeful that details of the league will be announced within the next month.

"We will have played a total of 31 games this year with 11 of those at home. Our record against teams from twelve different countries played is 25-5 to date and we hope to make it 26-5 on Sunday.  Through the last seven months Singapore has become synonymous with quality basketball in the region and the fact Talk N Text sought us out to scrimmage two games this past week in preparation for their PBA semi finals is additional testament to that fact".

He goes on to explain, "This has shown teams around the Asian Region that the Singapore Slingers are a competitive team of a high standard and a force to be reckoned with once the ASEAN Basketball League starts.

"Much credit has to go to our fans that have been fantastic throughout the whole season and we hope to give them one fantastic game this Sunday."

More details of the ASEAN Basketball League will be released within the next month.
