One thing about football: two persons can watch the same game, the same incident and come up with two completely opposite explanations. That is both the beauty and curse of football.

One thing you can’t escape from though, are cold, hard statistics.

According to the official statistics of the Singapore vs Vietnam game provided by the official AFF Suzuki Cup website, the stats for Singapore are:

Shots on target: 1
Shots off target: 2
Crosses: 2

Shi Jiayi, playing as a right-sided midfielder, had the shot on target.

Ismail Yunos, a defender, and Ridhuan, the right-sided midfielder, had the other two off-target shots.

So officially, Indra and Agu, the two strikers, did nothing strikers are expected to do.

Of course, the rest of the team has to shoulder some responsibility. For 90 minutes, they managed to collectively swing in a paltry two crosses in support of the strikers.

Vietnam’s statistics are telling:

Shots on target: 9
Shots off target: 6
Crosses: 6

With stats like these, Vietnam should be kicking themselves for not scoring but they certainly indicate the flow of the game.
