Changi Clubhouse, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 – 109 sailors thronged the Singapore Straits in a bid for the challenge trophy of the 32nd Singapore Laser Open and 6th SAFYC Byte Championship last weekend.
Light winds of 5 to 7 knots greeted the sailors over the weekend throughout the passage race and the 7 fleet races. Colin Cheng, slated for the title, maintained his lead in 6 out of 7 races to emerge victorious as the overall champion in the Laser Standard category while Eugene Woo of SAF Yacht Club took Laser Radial category crown.
It was also a very close fight between Clement Lim and Terence Choo, who ended up with same overall points but Clement Lim emerged the overall champion due to a better finishing for 3 races.
