Rowing fanatics and sports fans are in for a rowing treat.

From August 22nd to 25th 2008, Singapore will host the Asian Cup Rowing Championship at Pandan Reservoir. Featuring more than 100 participants from 10 countries, Singapore fans will get a chance to see local rowers Yeong Wai Mun, Sayidah Aisyah and Elsie Lim in action.

Formerly known as the Merlion Rowing Championship, the competition was renamed Asia Cup Rowing Championship to attract a greater level of participation from countries, especially countries from the Middle East. With Iran, Qatar and Kuwait joining Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam at the Asia Cup, our Singaporean rowers will get opportunities to race at a higher level.
