Ngee Ann take down Loyang

Anglican High, Friday, January 18, 2008 – Ngee Ann Secondary beat Loyang Secondary 42-25 in an East Zone B Division Championship game today.

The first foul was committed within 14 seconds of the game. #8 David of Ngee Ann was awarded two free-throws but he could not convert. However, fellow teammate Scott, #14, grabbed the rebound on the second free-throw and sealed the first two points for his team.

Loyang quickly fought back, performing several lay ups to earn precious points. Ngee Ann had a slight edge and finished the first quarter leading 13-9.

In the second quarter, the Ngee Ann team experienced slight jitters when they struggled with rebounds but their coach kept the team’s shape by shouting out instructions to her players. Ngee Ann regained their composure to head off into half time leading 26-14.

Ngee Ann continued to dominate play in the third period without letting Loyang have much time with the ball. The decreased possession was reflected in the score as Ngee Ann limited Loyang to just five points in the quarter to lead 32-19.

It was more of the same in the fourth quarter as Loyang were limited to just six points while Ngee Ann dropped in another 10 points to win the game 42-25.

Loyang committed a total of 23 fouls while Ngee Ann only had 9 fouls. The top scorer for the match was #9 Tony of Ngee Ann who scored 13 points for his team. Fellow teammate Scott, #14 came in second with 11 points. Loyang’s #10 was the top scorer for his team with 8 points.
