Nanyang Technological University vs Singapore Management University (Ladies’)

The basketball girls of NTU scored a 46-34 victory over the Singapore Management University (SMU) team in the Singapore University Games (SUniG) last Thursday.

NTU stumbled in the first quarter to allow SMU to take a 10-6 lead but woke up in the second quarter to score 16 points to lead by five (22-17) at half-time. The NTU girls continued to flex their muscles as they scored another 13 points in the third quarter (35-24) compared to SMU’s seven.

SMU fought back in the fourth quarter, led by Claire Ho who had a team-high 10 points, but NTU, with Cheryl Poon scoring a game-high 16 points, saw off the challenge to win their first game of SUniG 2007. NTU will next play NUS on Saturday, 29 September 07 at 3.30pm to decide the winner of the three-team competition. NUS had beaten SMU 76-36 in an earlier game.
