Temasek had the slightest of edges in the first quarter, finishing it 7-6 ahead. Things were just as tight in the second quarter with both teams scoring eight points apiece to finish the first half 15-14 in favour of Temasek.

With Darren Cheong of Kent Ridge scoring a game-high of 20 points, Kent Ridge inched ahead in the third quarter, outscoring Temasek 8-7 to bring the score level at 22-22 going into the final quarter. With about a minute to go in the fourth quarter, Kent Ridge looked comfortable leaders with a 34-28 lead but tensions shot up when Lim Jian Sheng (#11) of Temasek dropped a three-point bomb. Suddenly it was 34-31 and Temasek were back in the game. However, they could not score again despite having possession and Kent Ridge held their nerve to win 34-31 to move on to the quarterfinals.
