Muhammad Naqib of Gongshang Primary was leading the race when he clipped the second last hurdle, allowing Nicholas to overtake him and capture the gold. Naqib eventually finished second in a time of 17.01s. "I didn’t jump high enough and my back leg hit the hurdle," recounted a still-cheerful Naqib after the race. "My personal best before the race today was 18 plus seconds and so I improved," added Naqib.

Race winner Nicholas Lee used to run in the 100m and 200 sprints. "I didn’t expect to win and my knee actually hit the last hurdle," said Nicholas. "This is my first time ever in the Hurdles event." Ziron Low of Rosyth School finished third in a time of 17.14s.
