With 250m to go in the race, Hannah was in third place behind the race leader Shaik Syasya Bte Shaik Hussein of Geylang Methodist Primary and Janielle Lim of St Nicholas’ Girls. Stepping up a gear, Hannah then started overtaking both Syasya and Janielle, dropping the both of them for a clear run to the finish.

However, moving up from way back in the pack in sixth place was Valerie Chua of Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary. Valerie had evidently saved her best for last as she accelerated tremendously to to go from sixth to second behind Hannah. With 80m to go, Valerie started to close in on Hannah, much to the delight of her teammates cheering in the stands. Hannah however managed to find that little bit more to stay ahead and crossed the finishing line about 3m ahead of the accelerating Valerie for the gold.
