Just a few days earlier, the two emerged as champions in their C Division 200-metres finals. The stands at the National Stadium saw a similar show of brilliance as Anglo-Chinese School (Independent)'s Xavier Tan and Singapore Sports School's (SSP) Samantha Ortega found gold yet again at the 60th National Schools Track and Field Championships, this time in the highly anticipated 100m finals.

B Div Girls Long Jump: Ann Lee of Nanyang Girls’ takes flight to clinch gold amid bird disturbances

Ann Lee of Nanyang Girls High School (NYGH) bettered her personal best by one centimetre with a winning jump of 5.11 metres in the Girls’ B Division Long Jump event to clinch gold. But the highlight of the long jump event, according to Ann was not so much her win but the persistent disturbance of a white bird at the track. The white bird would periodically swoop towards some of the long jump participants and even forcing the officials to restart the jump countdown for some of the girls.
