Jason Lee (AJC #6) scored eight straight points in the final moments of the game to secure a victory for his team. He was eight of ten from the free throw line in the final two minutes of the game, and finished with a team-high 15 points.
With the victory, RI will make their first final appearance since 2011.
River Valley High School (RVHS) trumped Anderson Junior College (AJC) 79–34 in their first game of the second round.
After a tough first set, Hwa Chong Institution recovered to win 3–0 over Anderson Junior College to finish third.
With the win, AJC will head into the second round with a perfect 4–0 win-loss record, while NJC will also advance as this is their only loss.
HCI completed the race in 3:31.15 to clinch the silver medal, while Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) bagged the bronze medal with a timing of 3:34.04.
Teammate Natalie Soh finishes second in 2:26.70, while HCI's Dilys Hor clinched bronze with 2:32.23.
Victoria Junior College's Sherman Lim (#208) took home the silver medal with a time of 2:04.78, while Dai Nan Tian (#251) of Hwa Chong Institution finished in third place in 2:05.17.
