Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 – Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary defeated Northbrooks Secondary 53–8 in the first round of the North Zone C Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

Eshlyne Yap (AIS #11) led all scorers with 19 points, while teammate Chloe Chin (AIS #10) had 13 points.

Ahmad Ibrahim ended the first quarter with a 16–2 lead. The game was played in a rather slow pace.

Ahmad Ibrahim managed to take the lead for all four quarters. They also had more advantage in terms of their quick defence. Eshlyne Yap (AIS #11) had an outstanding performance in the third and fourth quarters. Nonetheless, Northbrooks did not give up and took every shot possible till the end of the game. Eventually, Ahmad Ibrahim claimed the 53–8 victory.

Ahmad Ibrahim will next play Yishun Secondary, while Northbrooks will play Woodgrove Secondary on Thursday, July 3.

Top scorer, Eshlyne Yap (AIS #11), commented, “I think my team played badly. This is one of our worse games due to fasting month. I felt that we need to improve our physical strength as well as our defence, attack and under basket shots. We hope that we would be up to standard in the next game.”
