Bedok Sports Hall, Thursday, May 29, 2014 — Meridian Junior College (MJC) scored four goals in the last eight minutes to beat defending champions, Victoria Junior College (VJC), 6–1 to finished third in the National A Division Floorball Championship.

Lee Jin Hao (#80) and Muhammad Jazli (#21) led MJC with two goals each.

Both also teams also met in the final last year, where VJC beat MJC to clinch the 2013 championship title.

MJC had a lot of possession of the ball early in the game but their many attempted shots either missed or were saved by the VJC goal keeper. In the 12th minute, Lee Jin Hao (MJC #80) eventually broke through. Curving the ball in from behind the net on the right wing, the ball slipped past the goal keeper and into the net.

Following this, VJC had a close shot but to no avail. With 30 seconds left in the period, a mistake by Warren Song (VJC #87) handed possession of the ball over to Muhammad Jazli (MJC #21), who then scored to give MJC the 2–0 lead.

The second period saw VJC attempting to make a comeback, and holding more possession of the ball as well as attempting more shots. These efforts came to fruition as Nicholas Low (VJC #80) scored the first goal from the left wing halfway through the period to make it 1–2. More shots were made by VJC in this period, with Selwin Yong (VJC #88) attempting one shot which went out of court instead.

With 30 seconds to go, Selwin attempted another shot. However, this was caught by the goal keeper and VJC trailed by a single goal (1–2) at the end of the period.

In the last period, MJC regained their grip on the match and attempted two more shots which were caught by the VJC goal keeper. However not long after, they managed to score another goal through Muhammad Hamizan (MJC #38) from the right wing.

In the 12th minute, Lee Jin Hao (MJC #80) scored his second goal of the match as the ball went straight in to the goal from the centre.

Another attempt by Mohamad Aliff (MJC #10), that was assisted by Muhammad Hamizan (MJC #38), nearly went in. However, the ball bounced off the rim of the goal.

In the last minute, Muhammad Yusuf (MJC #74) scored one goal from the left wing. 20 seconds later, Richard Woon (MJC #21) came up from behind the goal to score the sixth goal, sealing MJC’s 6–1 victory.

“We went down on Thursday against RI and all of us were disappointed. But we picked ourselves up in two days and fought really hard today as it was our last match of A Division, and I am really proud to say that these guys are my team mates and we did very well too,” said the MJC captain, Muhammad Yusuf (MJC #74).
