Singapore Basketball Centre, Monday, May 12, 2014 — Dunman High School (DHS) ended their season on a sweet note by beating Temasek Junior College (TJC) 52–27 in the second round of the National A Division Boys Basketball Championship. Liau Ming Shun (DHS #11) and Wang Gan Wei (TJC #13) led all scorers with 9 points apiece.

The win lifted Dunman High School to a 1–2 win–loss record in Group Q. Both DHS and TJC did not qualify for the semi-finals.

Both teams found it tough to get their offences going early on. DHS scored the first six points, before TJC answered with an 8–0 run. As the quarter wound down, Ming Shun (DHS #11) drilled a three-pointer to give DHS the edge at the break.

Four straight turnovers caused TJC to fall far behind in the second quarter. DHS were able to capitalise on the turnovers and score. A jumper from the middle by Gan Wei (TJC #9) was able to stem TJC’s bleeding.

The third quarter saw DHS build a 22-point lead that put away the game for good. DHS were aided by good rebounding on the boards by their frontcourt. They also had the bulk of the offensive rebounds, which gave them second chances on offence. TJC struggled to find their shot in the quarter, as their open jumpers missed most of the time.

The final quarter saw TJC find a way to get back into the game. However, Ming Shun (DHS #11) silenced them by nailing two straight three-pointers and sealing DHS’s victory. DHS were able to close out the game with a 52–27 win.

DHS captain, Liau Ming Shun (#11), said, “We just went out and enjoyed the game. We had fun during the game and that was how we built that large lead in the third quarter. I believe my juniors matured throughout the season and I hope they will lead their juniors to a better result next year.”
