Singapore Basketball Centre, Friday, May 9, 2014 — Anderson Junior College (AJC) are through to the semi-final after a torrid shooting display helped them to a 61–25 win over Temasek Junior College (TJC) in the National A Division Boys Basketball Championship.

Muhammad Zulhaziq B Azman (AJC #9) scored 20 points to lead all scorers, while Wang Gan Wei (TJC #13) had 13 points in a losing effort. AJC drained eight three-pointers in their win, most of them coming on open shots.

The win now puts AJC joint-first at the top of Group Q with a 2–0 win–loss record. They are now through to the semi-final along with Hwa Chong Institution.

AJC were red-hot in the first quarter, as they made five three-pointers as a team. They were able to get their shots through good ball movement. Muhammad Zulhaziq (AJC #9) found particular success coming off the backdoor cut to score. He was able to score three three-pointers in the period as a result.

The second quarter saw the game slow down a little, as both teams were unable to create any offence. TJC were particularly messy, as their players moved around court without any coherent aim to score. AJC also had woes of their own, as they experienced a three-minute scoring drought to end the quarter.

In the third quarter, AJC found their rhythm again and put up 22 points in the period. Chia Wen Han (AJC #13) and Liang Bingxin (AJC #14) both did well down low. They rebounded the ball and also made aggressive attacks in the paint, allowing them to put up points for AJC.

Holding a 33-point lead in the final period, AJC could afford to send in their reserves. To TJC’s credit, their players never gave up despite the big margin. They played each possession purposefully, looking to score each time. In the end, AJC took the game 61–25, booking their place in the semi-final in the process.
