Jurong West Sports Centre, Saturday, April 26, 2014 — Sport Singapore (SportSG), formerly known as Singapore Sports Council, launched a new ActiveSG membership programme, which awards every registered member with a credit value worth 100 dollars.

This was revealed by Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, at the ActiveSG Launch.

ActiveSG is a national movement that aims to provide affordable sports programmes for Singaporeans of all ages and levels. It is one of the recommendations of Vision 2030.

Registered ActiveSG members will receive benefits including priority booking of sports facilities, complimentary trial classes, and also exclusive invitations to members’ only events. In addition, 100 ActiveSG dollars will be credited to the membership account, upon identity verification via SingPass or at any nearby Sports Centre. Members will be able to use the 100 ActiveSG dollars to book various sport facilities and sign up for fitness programmes.

A new ActiveSG Membership Management System (MMS) has replaced the existing ICanBook system since 25 April 2014. The implementation is part of a master plan by SportSG to give Singaporeans greater access to sporting facilities.

Via the new MMS platform, members can also form and participate in various sport interest groups and sign up for social events. In the next phase of ActiveSG, the portal will also be a platform for forming sports leagues and zonal affiliation for members.

The ActiveSG membership is available to all Singaporeans and permanent residents.
