Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 — Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) (ACS(I)) never trailed from the second leg onwards, taking gold in the boys’ C Division 4x400m relay at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.

The quartet of Oliver Lim, David Tameeris, Philip Wong and Joshua Lim clocked a time of 3 minutes 41.42 seconds to clinch first place.

Their time is the fifth fastest in the history of this event and division in these championships. In addition, their time of 3:44.66 in the heats is the 16th fastest.

Singapore Sports School came in second in a time of 3:44.69, while Hwa Chong Institution clinched bronze in 3:46.28.

Since their inception in 2004, Sports School have finished in the top three for this event every year.

As for HCI, their last victory in this event came in 2002, when they set a then-meet record of 3:39.92.

ACSI’s lead-off runner Oliver Lim said, “We trained really hard for this. Once we saw that we could win this event, we did our best and it came true.”

ACSI’s final-leg runner Joshua Lim, who set a new C Division 400m meet record of 51.65s on April 11, said, “I want to thank God for the win. When we win, we give all the glory to Him.”

The record is also held by ACS(I). The team clocked a time of 3 minutes 37.25 seconds in 2008 to set the mark.
