Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Monday, April 14, 2014 — Zubin Muncherji of Anglo-Chinese Junior College clinched the boys’ A Division 200m gold medal with a timing of 22.32 seconds at the 55th National Inter-School Track & Field Championships.

Quah Jia Yong of St. Andrew’s Junior College bagged the silver medal with a timing of 23.24 seconds, while Shawn Poh of Tampines Junior College finished third in 23.41 seconds.

Zubin, who only managed a fourth-place finish in last year’s edition with a timing of 22.76 seconds, commented: “Honestly, I came here to do my best. My style is a bit slow, so I think it cost me a bit of time. It feels good to win both the 400m and 200m gold medals.”

Zubin set a personal best of 22.19s in the heats on Tuesday, April 8th. His margin of victory is the largest in this event since 2003, when ex-Hwa Chong JC runner Phang Xiao Feng beat current national sprinter Gary Yeo by 1.03 seconds.

The A Division 200m record of 21.75s was set in 2012 by Hwa Chong Institution alumnus, Donovan Chan.
