NTU Sports and Recreational Centre Multipurpose Field, Sunday, March 9, 2014 – A Ngee Ann Polytechnic team of Loh Xin Kai, Elena Liu, and Karen Chew won the Recurve Novice gold medal after repeated ties with National University of Singapore (NUS) at the NTU Institutional Archery Championship.

The NUS team of Boey Theng Hiang, Lin Shu’E, and Kiki Indriani forced ties in two scoring ends before NP scored 43 points more in the last scoring end to win the gold with a total score of 186. NUS had 184.

The Team Elimination had a fair share of unexpected happenings with many lower-seeded teams edging out their higher seeded opponents in the early stages of the competition. In the 1/8 Eliminations for Recurve Novice Men, 11th seed Singapore Management University (SMU) team beat sixth seed Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) 163–161 to proceed to the 1/4 Eliminations.

At the 1/4 Team Elimination stage for the Recurve Open category, fifth seed Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) beat fourth seed NTU to clinch a semi-final spot.

In the Recurve Intermediate Men’s category, seventh seed Team NUS edged out 2nd seed NP 163–136. Team NUS (NUS) then defeated third seed Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) to secure a spot to fight for gold.

The Recurve Intermediate Women’s category saw fifth seed NUS defeat fourth seed SP 112–88 to move on to the Team Elimination semi-finals.

The Semi-finals for Recurve Open saw third seed NUS edging out second seed NTU 179–172 to earn a spot in the gold medal match.

There was a shootout in the Recurve Novice Men’s category when NUS were tied with NP in the semi-finals with 205 points. NP defeated NUS 25–21 to allow them to move on and win the gold medal match.

The Recurve Open team bronze medal went to the NTU team which consisted of Recurve Open (70m) Best Distance winner Tan Si Lie and team mates Kwa Kah Yee and Chai Chi Yong.

The Compound Open team gold went to a combined NP and NTU team of Ang Hwee Ying (NP), Eunice Chng (NTU) and Wang Guo Wei (NTU). Hwee Ying was the winner of the Compound Open (50m) Best Distance Award on Day 1.
