Clementi Sports Hall, Wednesday, February 26 — Bukit Panjang Government High punched their ticket into the West Zone semi-finals with a 95–38 win over Jurongville Secondary in the West Zone B Division Basketball Championship.
Vignesh (Bukit Panjang #11) led all scorers with 23 points.
The win puts Bukit Panjang joint-top of Group Y with a 4–0 win–loss record, tied with Unity Secondary. Both teams now face each other on Friday to determine the seeding for the semi-final.
Bukit Panjang started the game well, stealing the ball on the first three Jurongville possessions. They were able to convert on the fast break to take the early lead. Ang Zi Yang (Bukit Panjang #4) and Vignesh (Bukit Panjang #11) led the scoring in the quarter, accounting for nine and 10 points respectively.
Jurongville were very lax on the boards, allowing Bukit Panjang to slip in for offensive rebounds each time. Vignesh (Bukit Panjang #11) did most of his damage inside, outjumping the Jurongville players to secure putbacks. Bukit Panjang held a 27-point lead heading into the break.
The third quarter saw Bukit Panjang put away the game for good. Their tight defence forced Jurongville into turnovers, which Bukit Panjang gleefully took advantage of it to extend the lead. Jurongville managed only two points in the quarter.
Garbage time ensued for both teams in the final quarter, where reserves on both sides came in to finish off the game. Bukit Panjang eventually finished the game 95–38 winners in emphatic fashion.
