Victoria Junior College, Monday, April 29, 2013 – Anglo-Chinese Junior College (ACJC) beat Catholic Junior College (CJC) 2–0 for their opening Round 2 win in the National A Division Boys’ Football Championship.

Two first half goals by Gulam Irufan (#21) and Matthew Wong (#10) were enough to ensure ACJC won their fifth game of the championship.

Midfielder Ngen Ge Liang (#16) of ACJC also stood out with his assured passing and dribbling as well as off the ball running.

ACJC had topped their group in Round 1 on goal difference with a 4–1 win-loss record. Their sole loss came in a 1–0 defeat by Raffles Institution who qualified second in the group with an identical record.

ACJC now find themselves in arguably the easier of the two Round 2 groups which also includes Victoria Junior College (VJC) and Temasek Junior College (TJC).

“Our best game was the 7–0 win over Innova,” said ACJC vice-captain and goalkeeper, Bryan Lim. “Even though we got the three points today, there’s still room for improvement.”

ACJC are expected to qualify for the semi-finals along with VJC who beat TJC 4–0 in a game later played on the same day.
