Singapore Sports School, Tuesday, April 23, 2013 — Hoong En Qi of Singapore Sports School won the C Division girls’ 50 metres butterfly final at the 54th National Schools Swimming Championships in a meet record time of 28.69 seconds, bettering her previous year’s record of 29.04s.

En Qi commented: “I am quite happy that I won and pleased that I’ve done a timing that’s close to my personal best. I’d like to thank my coaches, parents and teammates for their support.”

Her personal best time is 28.61 seconds, which is a national under-14 record. It was achieved during last month’s National Age Group championships and it met the qualifying mark for this year’s Asian Youth Games in Nanjing.

Daphne Tan and Emily Lua of Raffles Girls’ School took home the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Daphne finished with a time of 30.93s while Emily clocked 31.54s to win the bronze.
