NTU, Sunday, June 3, 2012 — Idys Koh, 10, of Nanyang CSC stole the limelight from the adults when she outlasted Yang Bo Wen of Keat Hong CSC 3-2 (11-3, 7-11, 11-8, 11-13, 11-8) to win the only point for her team in a 1-3 loss.

The game between the Primary 4 student from Nanyang Primary School and her older opponent had all the adults in the room fixated.

Bo Wen forced a rubber when she won the fourth game 13-11 to ratchet up the excitement. However, she had no answer to Idys who was calm enough to win the final game to score a consolation point for her team.

Idys, not surprisingly, represents her school and is also in the junior training team run by the Singapore Table Tennis Association.

When asked what the worst part about training was, Idys said: “Getting scolded by the coach.”

And the best part?

“Getting an iPhone for winning the Crocodile Cup,” said Idys.

Idys won the Primary 3-4 category after beating 10 opponents at the recent Crocodile Cup.
