Singapore Basketball Centre, Tuesday, May 8, 2012 — Perhaps it was due to the fact that both teams had already qualified for the semi-finals of the National A Division Girls’ Basketball Championship.

There was little tension as Raffles Institution overcame Hwa Chong Institution 27-15 to top their group and ensure an easier semi-final passage.

Yet the game was nearly made famous for another reason as both teams went scoreless throughout most of the first quarter. It was only in the final minute of the first quarter when Raffles Institution’s centre Alanna Lim (#10) scored a basket and Hwa Chong Institution’s #11 replied with an under basket with seconds to spare.

Alanna proceeded to lead her team to winning quarters for the rest of the game with a game-high score of 9 points.

Raffles Institution will next face Serangoon Junior College while Hwa Chong Institution will play Anderson Junior College in the semi-final games at Singapore Basketball Centre at 3pm on Friday, May 11.
