Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Thursday, April 5, 2012 — Belle Tan of Anglo-Chinese Junior College successfully defended her title when she won the A Division 3000m final in a time of 11 minutes 45.80 seconds at the 53rd National Schools Track and Field Championships.

Her victory was remarkable because she had just run and won the A Division 1500m final a day earlier.

The Championship record is 10:34.60 and it was set by Zhang Cuiying, then of Raffles Junior College, in 1991.

Jolene Quek of Raffles Institution (RI) was second in 11:51.87 while Victoria Tan, also of RI, was third in 11:58.45.

Jolene was running neck and neck with Belle heading into the final lap but could not keep up as Belle pulled away slowly to win by at least 50m.
