Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Thursday, April 5, 2012 – Lim Jin Yi of Hwa Chong Institution won the A Division Girls’ 400 metres hurdles title when she clocked a time of 68.97 seconds at the 53rd National Schools’ Track and Field Championships.

Jin Yi finished third last year, and was able to improve two places this time when she outlasted Raffles Institution’s Jessica Tan, who matched Jin Yi over the final two hurdles but lost out in a sprint to the end. Jessica was third in the B Division final last year and clocked 69.34 to win the silver here.

RI’s Natalie Wee registered a time of 70.21 to pick up her second bronze medal of the Championships. She had finished third in the 400m final two days earlier, 0.03 seconds behind Jin Yi, who was second.

This marked the third straight A Division Girls’ 400m hurdles final that was run without having sufficient participants to warrant the necessity of a qualifying round.
