Kranji Primary School, Tuesday, 10 April, 2012 – Foreign students shone in a primary school quarter final boys match between Telok Kurau Primary and Eunos Primary.

#10 of Telok Kurau proved to be a player to watch in the future with his athletic ability and basketball skills. The 10-year old player of Myanmese descent poured in 33 points alone and garnered numerous rebounds and blocked shots to lead his team to a 68-34 win over Eunos Primary.

Led by #10, Telok Kurau had jumped to a 19-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Yet the huge disparity in the scoreline did not accurately reflect the fighting spirit shown by the Eunos Pri boys.

Eunos Pri had Antonio Rocco Romanelli, a 10-year old Australian to lead the team at the point guard position. He, and his 8-year old brother Nicolo, drove in fearlessly to the basket for attempted shots despite their lack of height.

Both brothers accounted for 26 of the team’s 34 points.

Eunos did bounce back in the second quarter when #10 was on the bench with an 8-6 score, but could not prevent Telok Kurau from streaking to victory in the second half as #10 took over the scoring responsibilities.

Telok Kurau will next face Catholic High Primary while Eunos Primary will face Anderson Primary.

In another junior girls national quarter final match, Pei Chun Public romped to a 60-22 win over fellow south zone qualifier Kheng Cheng School.
