C Div 3000m: Nah Yi Xin of Cedar Girls’ leads from start to finish to win in 12:05.14

Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 — Nah Yi Xin of Cedar Girls’ Secondary led from start to finish to win the C Division Girls’ 3000m race with a time of 12 minutes 5.14 seconds at the 53rd National Inter School Track & Field Championships 2012.

Yi Xin pulled ahead to a comfortable lead right at the start leaving her fellow competitors to play catchup. River Valley High’s Valarie Lai was the closest competitor to her but Yi Xin held on to her lead. In the final lap, Valarie and Chung Cheng High’s Jillian See managed to narrow the gap and were hot on Yi Xin’s heels. However, Yi Xin maintained her lead and pulled ahead in the final lap, blitzing ahead in the final 200m to win the race.

Jillian managed to overtake Valarie in the last 100m and finished the race in second place with a time of 12 minutes 10.39 seconds. Valarie finished third with a time of 12 minutes 13.52 seconds.
