Choa Chu Kang Stadium, Tuesday, April 3, 2012 — Lok Xin Ying of Cedar Girls’ Secondary won the B Division Girls’ 3000m race with a time of 11 minutes 59.17 seconds at the 53rd National Inter School Track & Field Championships 2012.

Xin Ying adds the B Division title to her haul having won the C Division 3000m title as well last year. She started the race at a slower pace, staying within the chase pack while schoolmate Lee Yuet Zhen led at the front. The race leader changed hands from the third lap on as different runners took turns to move to the front of the pack.

It was until the sixth lap did Xin Ying make her move, overtaking several runners to take the lead. She then held a comfortable lead for the next lap before finishing the race in first.

Schoolmate Yuet Zhen managed to make a comeback and finished second with a time of 12 minutes 5.55 seconds while Sports School’s Yang Tian Tian finished third with a time of 12 minutes 12.88 seconds.
