Jurong East Sports Complex, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 — Unity Secondary saw off Jurong Secondary 58-41 to win the West Zone B Division Basketball Championship for the third year in a row.
Jurong were narrowly beaten 39-37 by Unity in a Round 2 match but a dominant Unity were in no mood to allow Jurong to come this close in the zonal championship final.
The game was a close affair in the first quarter with Unity leading by five (19-14) after the first quarter.
Things changed in the second quarter as Unity stepped up a gear and Jurong struggled to score. Delvin Goh (#14) and the Unity #9 both contributed six points each as Unity outscored Jurong 18-10 to take a, 13-point, 37-24 lead into the half-time break.
The third quarter was a low-scoring affair, with Unity outscoring Jurong 6-3 and stretching their lead to 16 points.
Unity were always comfortably ahead in the final quarter before wrapping up the win 58-41.
The win gives Unity a perfect 12-0 win-loss record to take into the National Championship while Jurong are 9-2.
