Jurong East Sports Complex, Friday, March 2, 2012 — Methodist Girls’ School won the West Zone C Division Netball Championship with a 30-25 victory over River Valley High.

MGS started the game strongly with unchallenged passes down court and lobs to their goal shooter and established a five-point, 11-6 lead over River Valley at the end of the first quarter.

In the second and third quarter, RVH rectified their mistakes and began to challenge MGS especially at mid-court, and focused on the MGS goal shooter. Both teams traded goals for these two quarters and MGS could not pull away, leading 19-13 at the end of the second, and 27-20 at the end of the third.

With the title on the line, River Valley went on a rampage and created numerous turnovers in the final quarter to reduce the deficit from seven to four points.

However, MGS’ pair of tall shooters made the difference as they secured a title they have not won for a number of years.

Despite the loss, River Valley High put up a good fight and showed great effort throughout the game.

In the game for 3rd/4th placing, Nanyang Girls’ High triumphed 30-13 over Bukit Panjang Government High with superb passing, drives and shooting.
