Singapore Basketball Centre, Monday, February 27, 2012 — This semi-final match was a one-sided affair as North Vista Secondary thrashed Seng Kang Secondary 74-40 in the North Zone B Division Basketball Championship.
North Vista, who had a strong contingent of supporters present, came charging out of the gates to take a 11-0 lead within six minutes of the start. Seng Kang had a few open shots but just could not capitalise on them. Seng Kang did not get on the board until their #11 managed to draw the first foul of the game to score one of two free throws.
Seng Kang then again managed to earn another two free throws which they drained to trail 3-17 at the end of the first quarter.
North Vista found the key to stopping Seng Kang by guarding the Seng Kang #11 who created most of the plays and did most of the scoring. The #11 was closed down whenever he tried to penetrate into the paint.
In the second quarter, North Vista continued to show their dominance in the game as they extended their lead further to 25-3. Seng Kang called a timeout to try and salvage things but North Vista still ended the half with a 27-point, 35-8 lead.
In the second half, Seng Kang did not stop fighting and ended the third quarter by actually outscoring North Vista 19-16 with a host of 3-pointers towards the end of the quarter. But Seng Kang did not keep up that shooting form in the last quarter as North Vista came back with 23 points, their highest scoring quarter.
The 34-point, 74-40 victory now allows North Vista, who have a 9-1 win-loss record, to march into the final to face Presbyterian High who beat Yishun Secondary 68-62 in the other semi-final.
