Singapore Basketball Centre, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 — The North Zone B Division Boys’ Basketball Championship is underway and last year’s top four — Presbyterian High, North Vista Secondary, Seng Kang Secondary, Yishun Secondary — have had comfortable wins.

However, it is the performance of North View Secondary in the opening games that have caught the eye. Not known as a basketball school, they have stood out with big wins in their first two games. They beat Hougang Secondary 40-27 and then thrashed Northland Secondary 50-28 for a perfect 2-0 record so far.

The North View #9 stood out with his vision. He set up plays and was also on hand to finish the scoring. Deadly with his speed, he has driven past opponents with ease when not guarded tight enough.

Defending zonal champions, Presbyterian High, had a comfortable 82-17 victory over Northland in their opening game while zonal runners-up, North Vista, beat Anderson Secondary 67-16 for their first win.

Yishun, who finished third in 2011, are a perfect two wins out of two (2-0). They beat Riverside Secondary 75-18 and followed that up with a 95-12 win over Fuchun Secondary.

Seng Kang, who finished fourth in 2011, beat Deyi Secondary 52-33 and Chung Cheng High (Yishun) 48-32 for a perfect 2-0 record so far as well.
