CCAB, Friday, February 11, 2011 — Gan Eng Seng Secondary emerged as one of the favorites to qualify for the National B Division Basketball Championship with a 56-33 win over Peicai Secondary in the second round of the South Zone Championship.

With most expecting a close game, Gan Eng Seng used a 12-2 second quarter blitz to open up a commanding 24-10 lead by the end of the first half. They did not look back after that, especially with a 20-9 run in the fourth quarter led by their captain #9 who led all scorers with 23 points. Point guard #8 also chipped in with 9 of his 11 points in the second half for Gan Eng Seng Sec.

In other matches, Fairfield Methodist Secondary beat Guangyang Secondary 27-17 in a low scoring game while Catholic High pipped defending South Zone champions Queensway Secondary 46-45 in an exciting game.

The south second round matches continue at Co-curricular Activities Branch next week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
