Singapore, September 4, 2009 - Singapore Slingers confirmed eight other players (out of 12) who will suit up for the ASEAN Basketball League from October 2009 to February 2010.

The first two players signed in August 2009 were Hong Wei Jian and Pathman Matialakan. Joining them for the 2009/10 campaign are Singaporean players Desmond Oh Wei Jie and Lim Wai Sian. Singaporean players Wong Wei Long, Michael Wong Soon Yuh and Steven Khoo Kian Huat will join the team as part-time basis due to prior work commitments.

The other three import players are Kyle Jeffers, Michael LeBlanc (USA) and Al Vergara (Philippines) who also played with Singapore Slingers in 2008 alongside Pathman.

“We have revamped our roster going from an International team with a few Singaporean players to a team based around seven local players with some import players. Singapore will see a hardworking and competitive young side that will play an exciting up-tempo brand of basketball,” says Michael Johnson, General Manager of the Singapore Slingers.

Although the ABL season will officially tip-off on 10 October 2009, basketball enthusiasts can watch the newly revamped Singapore Slingers roster in action during their 2009 Challenge Series which starts from September 18th to October 4th at Indoor Stadium.
