Singapore demolish Cambodia 5-0 to start defense of ASEAN Championship title

In the meantime, we are going to have a contest. Make your predictions for the following:

Who will win?

What will be the final score?

Who will score Singapore’s first goal?

If you can get the answer to ALL three correct, I will take you out for lunch at Holland Village.

Just leave your answer in the comments section below and put a valid email so that I can contact you. Don’t leave your contact details in the comments section or else you’ll get random people calling you and wanting to be your ‘friend’ (*shudder*).

Only I will contact you, and if you turn out to be a girl, I will bring my WIFE along for the lunch because uncle Les here don’t want no scandal.

Getting back to football, the starting lineup is as follows (it’s the same lineup that started against Malaysia in the 2-2 warmup draw):

Lionel Lewis (GK)

Mohd Noh Rahman (DF)
Baihakki Khaizan (DF)
Precious Emuejeraye (DF)
Daniel Bennett (DF)

Muhd Ridhuan (MF)
Fahrudin Mustafic (MF)
Shi Jiayi (MF)
John Wilkinson (MF)

Agu Casmir (FW)
Aleksandar Duric (FW)

The most significant omissions from the starting XI are Indra Sahdan and Noh Alam Shah who between them have scored 52 goals and have 163 caps. However, Indra carries an injury while Noh Alam Shah just came back from a seven-month ban.

The Agu-Aleks pairing by contrast only has a combined 13 goals and 38 caps but they were the pair that impressed in the warm-up games. Aleksandar Duric has a physical presence and close control skills that all the ASEAN teams will have a problem handling and so his selection is a foregone conclusion.

It will be interesting to see who will come off the bench to replace Agu as a second half substitute during the game. Alam Shah may have an edge over Indra as he is a strong physical presence as well.

Who do you think should be captain?

And who do you think should in the first XI?
