Catholic High School were taught a lesson in basketball when they were outplayed 52-75 by the Nan Shan Senior High School in Taipei, Taiwan. Catholic High played the match as part of a series of friendly games with Taiwanese schools during their year end sports tour.

Boasting of quite a few under-18 Taiwan basketball team players, Nan Shan is the reigning basketball champions for the senior high school category in Taiwan for 2007.

Despite leaving out quite a few starters in the line-up, they blitzed Catholic High 22-7 in the fourth quarter to pull ahead. The fast tiring Catholic High team could hardly keep up with the quick passing and accurate shooting of the Nan Shan team in the final quarter.

Yet Catholic High started the brighter of the two teams. They managed to establish a 12-4 lead in the first quarter through accurate shooting by forward Lim Fang Ching, who scored the first eight points for the team including two 3-pointers. The energetic defense also kept their illustrious opponents to a mere four points.

Yap Ching Poh (#13, CH) also starred with some accurate shooting in the second quarter to lead his team into the half time break leading 25-23.

The Nan Shan team then showed its pedigree in the second half when they came roaring back in the third quarter, outscoring Catholic High 30-20. Their aggressive defense wore down the Catholic High players while their smooth offense was a joy to watch.

In an earlier game, the Nan Shan thrashed the Catholic High B Division team 119-48.
