Catholic High continued their winning streak in the Dr Fatimah Cup with a comprehensive 57-27 win over Chung Cheng High (Yishun). The win ensured qualification for the next round with still a game to play.

Chung Cheng High's key player Desmond Poh (#7) showed off his skills from the start, scoring two 3-pointers to keep the game close at 16-8 by the end of the first quarter.

He continued his scoring streak with seven points in the second quarter for his school to trail Catholic High by only 16-24.

In the third quarter, however, Catholic High stepped up the pace with an aggressive man-to-man defense and quick fast breaks to open the gap to 42-20 by the end of the third quarter. Jabez Su, James Hong and Jason Pok led the team in red with 12 points in the quarter alone.

Despite scoring a game-high 20 points for his Chung Cheng High team, Desmond got little help from his teammates. He also missed a few crucial free throws in the final quarter. His team eventually went down 27-57.

Said Jabez Su, who scored 19 points for his Catholic High team:

"The weather was extremely hot when we started the match, which probably explained our slow start. We started playing well only in the second quarter and paid special attention to their key player (Desmond Poh). That was when we managed to open up the score. We were also quite successful in our full court zone defense, which contributed to quite a few turnovers by our opponents."
