U K Shyam had the fastest qualifying time in the 100m heats last Saturday at Gombak Stadium. He touched home in 11.06 seconds. Shyam currently holds the Singapore 100m record with a time of 10.37 seconds set in 2001 during the World University Games in Beijing.

In the women’s 100m heats, Amanda Choo of Nanyang Technological University had the fastest qualifying time of 12.33 sec.

Ann Siao Mei of NTU finished first in her heat in a time of 12.66 sec to qualify for the final. Saukin Nur Suhaifah (extreme right, #296, NP) finished 5th in her heat in a time of 14.59 sec and did not qualify for the final.
